Bitcoin.com Welcomes New CEO

Bitcoin.com has announced the appointment of Stefan Rust as the new chief executive officer of the company. He joined the team six months ago as the Global Head of Corporate & Business Development. To make room for the new CEO, Roger Ver will continue his important work for the company under the new title of Executive Chairman of Bitcoin.com.

“I’m hugely excited to take on the role of CEO working alongside Roger. Together we can now turbocharge the awesome team and great brand that is Bitcoin.com,” commented Stefan. “We will play an integral part in making money work for everybody as society undergoes such an enormous and pivotal change. It’s going to be a wild ride, so don’t miss it!”

Bitcoin.com continues to innovate with new products and services for cryptocurrency users. For example, in June we unveiled peer-to-peer bitcoin cash marketplace Local.Bitcoin.com and in September will launch the trading platform Exchange.Bitcoin.com with over 50 trading pairs. Having another experienced business leader at the helm will help the company stay on this path and accelerate its progress.

Early Bitcoin Adopter, Tech Leader, Dad

A multilingual and global leader, Stefan Rust has a flair for converting cutting edge technologies into commercial opportunities. He has held executive positions and launched successful companies while raising funds and creating business development partnerships as a foundation for successful ecosystems and associated business growth across mobile, IoT, big data and blockchain.

Stefan is also an early bitcoin adopter. For example, in April 2012 he paid developers for their services in bitcoin and hosted Hong Kong’s first Bitcoin event.

Prior to Bitcoin.com, Stefan founded and led Exicon, a mobile marketing automation SaaS platform, aggregating mobile and social data to automate the engagement of mobile users for businesses.

At Exicon he built a network of 3,000 independent software companies with over 30,000 software engineers, acquired and engaged across hundreds of custom software projects, helping development of more than 500 mobile apps, and was involved in over 100 developer events globally.

Stefan is also the Chairman Emeritus of the Mobile Ecosystem Forum and was elected a top 50 Global Mobile Entertainment Executive. He previously worked with Siemens, Lucent and Sun Microsystems as well as starting up eight of his own companies in the technology space. He is also a champion masters swimmer, but proclaims his proudest achievements to be his four fabulous kids.

As a contributor to the greater digital community, Stefan remains engaged with various industry organizations and startups around the world.
