2019-1-13 20:17

According to a recent survey released by Janco Associates blockchain developers have experienced a salary increase for their work and services provided to companies and technology firms. As the blockchain industry grows and there are more companies in the space, the demand for blockchain developers increased.

In the last six months, the annual pay for these developers increased by more than $4,000. As mentioned before, companies are investing more funds into blockchain technology which is increasing the demand for workers.

As per this report, the median annual salary for a blockchain developer is $132,000 and experienced workers earning more than $176,000 a year. According to Victor Janulaitis, the CEO of Janco, salaries are growing across different companies for blockchain roles.

As reported by the job data analytics firm Burning Glass Technologies, the number of blockchain-related jobs is 12,006. Compared to a year ago, this represents an increase of 316%. Back in June, the number of blockchain developer jobs registered was 5,743.

Janco shows that an ERP Data Engineer received almost $210,000 per year. A Data reporting analyst received just $100,000. Software engineers earn an average of $137,000 according to Mehul Patel, Hired CEO. Meanwhile, Blockchain developers received $176,000 a year.

Patel commented about this during an interview:

“Since launching blockchain as an expertise on our platform in late 2017, we have witnessed demand for blockchain engineers increase 400%. Interestingly, blockchain engineer has not solidified itself as a standalone job quite yet; instead, blockchain is increasingly being included as an area of expertise for back-end solutions architects and machine-learning engineers.”

As the demand for blockchain experts increase the offer for crypto and blockchain-related courses grew as well. There are several universities offering different courses for people to learn about distributed ledger technology (DLT) and digital assets such as Bitcoin (BTC) and others.

As reported by Glassdoor in October 2018, the number of blockchain positions in the United States grew 300% in just a year. At that time, the company explained that the highest salary registered by Glassdoor in the blockchain industry was $200,000 with the median salary being $84,884. This is 61.8% higher than the US median salary of $52,461 per person.

This report showed that the top five international cities for blockchain job openings on Glassdoor were London (16%), Singapore (7%), Toronto (7%) and Hong Kong (6%). Berlin accounted for 4% of Glassdoor’s job openings related to blockchain technology.
