Coinbase rolled on Zcash and USDC trading back in 2018, however, these services have not been available in New York until now. Coinbase’s late support for the two cryptocurrencies can be due to New York’s stringent regulatory requirements.
In the recent past, Coinbase has been adding to its list of supported tokens within New York state. Last year the crypto exchange firm expanded support for coins for New Yorkers such as Chainlink (LINK), XRP, Stellar Lumens (XLM) as well as Dai (DAI).
Support for Polkadot's DOT TokensMeanwhile, the crypto exchange platform’s custody subsidiary has also announced its support for Polkadot's DOT tokens. Web3 Foundation, Polkadot’s managing partner, has inked a deal with Coinbase’s custodial service.
According to the partnership deal, investors that have already invested in the DOT tokens will have a chance to claim them using the Coinbase custody account.
The process of claiming the tokens was also elaborated. A website was also launched to offer information on how to claim the DOT tokens as well as alternative methods.
Polkadot issued its tokens to potential investors in 2017 where 5 million DOT tokens were issued as Simple Agreement for Futures Tokens (SAFTs). The agreement says that the holders have rights to their tokens after the platform goes live.
Web3 Foundation closed its latest private token sale where 500,000 DOTs were distributed.
