Roger Ver is known for a lot of things, and he has been a major supporter of Bitcoin adoption in the entire industry for quite a while. He believes in economic freedom, which is exactly what he sees in Bitcoin. As the CEO of Bitcoin.com, Ver recently posted a video that shows the recent developments on the Bitcoin Cash network, along with other topics related to it.
One of the first areas of interest was Gemini, which recently added Bitcoin Cash to their listings. The exchange is famous for its development by the Winklevoss brothers. Their addition didn’t come until several weeks after the hard fork of Bitcoin Cash, to which Gemini announced,
“At this time, we will only be providing support for the Bitcoin ABC network and we will be referring to it as Bitcoin Cash with ticker: BCH. We have added replay protection to all BCH withdrawals from the Gemini platform to ensure transactions are only valid on the Bitcoin ABC blockchain.”
Many organizations have been adding Bitcoin Cash to their listings lately, now that the hard fork has been resolved into two blockchains. However, the same platforms seem to be moving away from adding Bitcoin and Litecoin. Ver was bold enough to even claim that Litecoin is useless, at best, and has no way of balancing the scalability that they need to establish.
He took this time to segue into a discussion on Vitalik Buterin’s support of Bitcoin Cash. The co-founder for Ethereum (ETH) had recently taken a dig at the original Bitcoin Core, saying, “The broader society does not give a crap about censorship in Bitcoin or social media attacks from BS because there are much bigger cases of censorship and social attacks happening in the world that hurts the lives of far more people.”
Buterin has remained on the side of the ABC side of the Bitcoin Cash hard fork, and even went as far as to compliment and congratulate Ver, following his accrual of the maximum blocks. Ver remained supportive of Bitcoin Cash, standing firm in his belief that it is one of the keys to economic freedom.
Apart from the discussion on Bitcoin Cash, Ver’s video discussed some other developments in the crypto industry, like the 30% discount that Purse.io was offering to users that applied Bitcoin Cash to their Amazon purchases. They also addressed the 30 new cryptocurrencies that Coinbase had decided to bring to their listings, making Ver believe that Coinbase wanted to progress to more promising coins than Bitcoin.
Still, it was important to Ver to noted that there shouldn’t be any concern about reorg attacks on platforms as a result of BCH addition, because the process is complete. He said, “Everyone should know that there is no threat on the Bitcoin Cash network now. With OKEx relisting Bitcoin Cash with the ticker symbol BCH, people in the crypto space should realize that Bitcoin Cash is one of the few currencies that will bring financial freedom to everyone.”
