Destined to be one of the most impactful NFT launches of 2021, the Cypherpunk Collection recently unveiled and sold the first piece of its limited 30 NFT collection.
The collection, comprised of original, one-of-a-kind NFT artworks, celebrates the cryptographers and computer scientists whose developments inspired the birth of Bitcoin.
The NFT designers believe their collection will pose a serious rival to the CryptoPunks series, witnessing similar cultural impact and skyrocketing market capitalization. At the moment, the full collection of CryptoPunks total 9999 NFTs in all, with a combined market cap of over $1 billion and growing. As the Cypherpunk Collection has only 30 NFTs, this collection will be much scarcer, and therefore more likely to be valuable in the future.
Paying tribute to the original encryption enthusiasts
The Cypherpunk NFT collection is an homage to the cypherpunk movement that fueled the creation of Bitcoin and the blockchain. Cypherpunks are united in the belief that technology can be used to empower the individual, freeing them from governmental controls and providing them with the right to privacy. They are therefore strong advocates of encryption and the use of Bitcoin to promote financial sovereignty.
Some of the original cypherpunks include David Chaum, inventor of the first e-cash, Adam Back, CEO of Blockstream, and Hal Finney, Bitcoin coder and recipient of the first BTC transaction. The most famous cypherpunk of all, of course, is Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous inventor of Bitcoin and the blockchain.
An opportunity to own a piece of cyber-history
While NFTs have certainly been all the rage in 2021, not many of them are designed with the spirit of an entire revolution behind them – a financial revolution made possible through the trustless, decentralized technologies developed by the cypherpunks themselves. This is why the Cypherpunk Collection creators ar
inviting everyone to experience the spirit of the movement by acquiring an NFT from their limited-edition collection.
The first NFTs of the Cypherpunk Collection are already on sale now at OpenSea. Each subsequent NFT will be sold every three days until all 30 NFTs have been released. The starting bid for each subsequent NFT will increase by 15%, and valuable easter eggs are hidden among some of the NFTs.
