Sparking yet another controversy in the crypto market, John McAfee has offered a free listing to any company that delists itself from HitBTC voluntarily. The announcement came after McAfee officially joined hands with CoinBene during his visit to Europe. The crypto evangelist has previously lashed out at HitBTC, calling it out for corruption and the enormous fees it charges its users.

The Beginning of a New Partnership for McAfee

John McAfee has consistently launched scathing criticisms of centralized crypto exchanges, especially HitBTC. High transaction fees and rampant corruption at HitBTC have been his strongest allegations. In June, McAfee asked existing users to boycott the exchange, as per his tweet.

His criticism of the exchange increased when Apollo Currency refused a HitBTC listing citing user accusations of fraud. Apollo had already paid $400,000, which it lost after deciding not to be listed on HitBTC. Apollo now joined the McAfee Alliance. And to show his support, McAfee asked all “legitimate” exchanges to list Apollo and called its action of refusing listing at HitBTC a great “sacrifice.”

Meantime, McAfee has been in Europe for the conference Blockchain Cruise, where he announced his partnership with CoinBene in a press conference. Later, he added the same to his Twitter, writing:

“I held a press conference last night announcing the new alliance partnership between @coinbene exchange and @McAfeeAlliance. In our fight against corruption, @Team_McAfee will guarantee a free listing on @CoinBene to anyone willing to delist from @hitbtc effective immediately!”

A blog post suggests that CoinBene started negotiations with McAfee only a few days ago, on Sept. 7, right when the cruise set sail. The exchange, which was launched in Nov. 2017, is one of the largest in the world with over 42 percent of its total daily volume contributed by BTC/USDT trade.

Did Anyone Follow His Advice?

John McAfee is a crypto influencer whose words are heard by millions of people across the globe. However, he has also had a controversial past. For instance, McAfee has faced accusations that he will promote any project in exchange for substantial payment. Additionally, he was wrapped in a huge controversy recently for his promotion of the “unhackable” Bitfi wallet. The wallet was hacked twice. McAfee was dismissive regarding the hack.

His latest move could be considered a promotional stunt for his alliance with CoinBene. Till now, no others projects have come forward to delist from HitBTC.
