Software magnate and crypto enthusiast John McAfee came back to social media after a recent mysterious poisoning attack. This time, he is not promoting a coin but asking his followers to boycott unfair cryptocurrency companies like HitBTC.
John McAfee Twitter Storm RemergesIn a tweet, McAfee told his followers that crypto exchanges have become unfair and caused sufferings for millions of people.
His tweet read:
“The crypto exchanges have become the thing that we have originally fought against. Their power is immense. Hitbtc, for example, has increased suffering for millions of poor people who cannot afford the minimum buy-in since it is greater than their monthly income. Boycott them.”
McAfee did not detail which other exchanges that he believes have engaged in unfair practices and to what extent.
No further tweets recommended a possible replacement that users could use if they abolish the exchange the question.
The Software Magnate’s Opinionated PastJohn McAfee may have millions of followers on Twitter, but he is also one of the most opinionated and controversial figures in the industry. He has spoken about becoming the president of the United States, has had a few run-ins with the law and has always advocated for a decentralized peer-to-peer economy.
The reason behind his call for a boycott could be that he is pointing towards entry barriers in the market. As some exchanges have very high entry barriers, only the rich can participate in trading, excluding those not as fortunate.
