The announcement was made on Wednesday and revealed the EXODUS 5G Hub, a router said to provide a secure 5G connectivity for all devices that can connect to the internet. The EXODUS also supports a full BTC node, which means it allows users to record and verify their transactions in cryptocurrency, all while keeping the blockchain network secure.
Users to Have More Power Over Their Own DataHTC continued its announcement by saying the hub allows users to own keys, which gives them more power over the data they own. Here’s what firm’s announcement reads:
“You are now verifying the cloud servers, rather than them verifying you. It is a complete power shift from the status quo.”
EXODUS can run a BTC node through Zion, not to mention it provides a means for key recovery in case users happen to lose their devices.
Private Vault to Be Provided TooThe hub further provides a private vault that users can use in order to view their holdings of Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Binance coin (BNB), Litecoin (LTC) and Stellar lumens (XLM). The ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens from Ethereum are supported as well. Here’s hoe HTC’s decentralized chief officer, Phil Chen, described the device:
“EXODUS is about ownership. Owning your keys, owning your data, owning your privacy. EXODUS is the shield against the onslaught of big tech and its assault on the privacy of your home. By using the EXODUS 5G Hub, you have more control and ownership of your data than ever before.”
2 Smartphones Launched Under the EXODUS BrandThe EXODUS brand also includes 2 smartphones created by HTC, both providing crypto features through Zion. HTC mentioned it has plans to provide privacy-focused apps support for all its EXODUS devices, ProtonMail’s encrypted service for mail, Incognito VPN and the Brave browser included. It also said the 5G Hub is supposed to be available in stores in Q2 of 2020, not mentioning anything about the price.
