Fetch.ai, a Cambridge-based artificial intelligence company and member of the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance, has integrated Alibaba Group’s cloud computing subsidiary Alibaba Cloud as a cloud provider.

Artificial Superintelligence Alliance is a merger of SingularityNET, Ocean Protocol, and Fetch.ai, with the token trading under the FET symbol.

The companies announced the partnership via a press release on Oct. 30, with Fetch.ai noting that the collaboration is one more step towards bringing web2 to web3.

Fetch.ai will tap into Alibaba Cloud’s infrastructure to bolster its decentralized AI network through Cloudician, Alibaba Cloud’s web3 partner in the Asia Pacific region.

In this case, the cloud provider will help verify and validate transactions on the Fetch.ai network, boosting both accuracy and security for users.

The deal is also good for Fetch.ai, in that it allows it to tap into Alibaba’s high-performance and robust cloud computing infrastructure and global network.

With a superior bandwidth and global footprint, using Alibaba Cloud means cross-region deployment of decentralized applications, low latency, and high security among key benefits.

“This collaboration reinforces our commitment to developing a secure network infrastructure, safeguarding data assets and ensuring business continuity globally,” Humayun Sheikh, chief executive officer of Fetch.ai and Artificial Superintelligence Alliance chairman, said.

“We see immense potential in collaborating with Alibaba Cloud to push the boundaries of decentralized AI technologies. Their expertise and innovation in AI will be invaluable in our pursuit of advancing possibilities in the Web3 industry.”

Crypto and blockchain platforms tap into Alibaba infrastructure

While this is the beginning of what’s expected to be a long-term relationship between ASI and Alibaba Cloud, it’s not the cloud computing provider’s first in the crypto industry.

In March this year, the decentralized infrastructure network (DePIN) platform AIOZ Network partnered with Alibaba Cloud to advance DePIN adoption in Southeast Asia.

The Singapore-based blockchain network was to use Alibaba Cloud’s cloud solution to expand its presence in the region.

AIOZ Network also leveraged the partnership to bolster its infrastructure, which includes web3 AI, storage, and streaming.

The Aptos Foundation on the other hand joined forces with Alibaba Cloud in June 2024, revealing a collaboration aimed at strengthening Japan’s blockchain ecosystem.

Aptos targets further adoption with users benefiting from web3 and digital assets growth.

Another major integration is blockchain security firm CertiK’s announcement in July.

The blockchain company migrated its cloud infrastructure to Alibaba Cloud, with the partnership seen as key to CertiK’s quest to expand in Asia.

Other blockchain networks and platforms to partner with Alibaba Cloud include Conflux Network, Avalanche, NEAR, and Sui.
