Distributed: Health Blockchain Healthcare Conference is Back
Organized by BTC Inc. and Hashed Health, the Distributed: Health Blockchain conference, is slated to go down on November 5 and 6 in Nashville, Tennessee. This is the third edition of the event, focusing mainly on bringing blockchain-based solutions to the healthcare industry in order to help the sector’s evolution.
The CEO of BTC Inc. David Bailey, spoke about the event, noting that:
“Nashville is already regarded as the healthcare epicenter of the U.S., but there is a tremendous opportunity here to establish the city as a technology innovation hub as well … There is no bigger disruptive force in the world right now than blockchain technology. Distributed: Health continues to provide a platform for the biggest innovators and thought leaders to share their ideas while cementing Nashville’s place as the healthcare blockchain hub.”
What Does the Conference Seek to Achieve?Distributed: Health was first held in 2016. The third edition to be held in November will see about 1,100 attendees representing a variety of verticals in the healthcare sector. The consortium of the stakeholders will include pharmaceutical manufacturers, providers and policy makers.
This year’s conference will explore a number of issues, with the main agenda on the table being the use cases of decentralization. The first and the second editions of the program mainly focused on introduction and conceptualization of decentralization in the healthcare sector, but this time it will be more detailed, looking at the implementations of blockchain systems in commercial and clinical sides.
Big Names to AttendThe conference is expected to have a fireside chat with Bill First, Nashville’s native senator, who will discuss about the reforms in healthcare sector. There are also plans to have product demonstrations by RTI International and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Optum and Humana are also expected to make major announcements, and many startups will get an important opportunity to pitch their ideas and projects to prospective investors. According to the organizers, Hyperledger and Ethereum Foundation will also present their projects in relation to healthcare.
24-hr Hackathon to Precede the Main EventThe 2-day conference will give way to 1 24-hr hackathons that’s expected to precede the event. It will include developer teams competing to develop blockchain-based solutions in the healthcare industry. The winners will be awarded cash prizes.
