Nashville, Tennessee, will witness the resurrection of “Distributed: Health,” the original blockchain and healthcare conference that will be on Nov. 5 and 6. BTC Inc. is organizing the event in partnership with Hashed Health, which is designed to bring health care and blockchain technology closer. The third edition of the event will focus on bringing blockchain-based solutions to the healthcare sector to help the industry’s evolution.
What Does “Distributed: Health” Achieve?“Distributed: Health” was first organized in 2016. This 2018 gathering will see 1,100 attendees who represent a variety of verticals in the healthcare industry. This includes payers, providers, policy makers, and even pharmaceutical manufacturers. The consortium of these stakeholders and their introduction to decentralized solutions are the aims of the conference.
This year’s program will explore the use cases of decentralization. The past events have focused on the introduction and conceptualization of blockchains in the healthcare sector. This year, the implementation of decentralized systems in both the clinical and commercial sides will be on the agenda. The industry’s thought leaders will focus on the advances of blockchain technology and the real-world solutions it can provide for the healthcare sector — from payment processing and provider credentialing to medical record maintenance, patient identity and even handling the supply chain.
What Will the Event Include? The conference will include a fireside chat with Nashville native Senator Bill Frist, who will discuss the reforms in the healthcare sector on both national and global levels. There will also be some product demonstrations by the Department of Health and Human Services and RTI International. Humana and Optum are expected to make major announcements during the conference as well, and start-ups will get an opportunity to pitch their ideas to investors. Ethereum Foundation and Hyperledger will also present their blockchain solutions to legacy healthcare companies.
The two-day conference will also give way to a 24-hour hackathon, which will precede the main event. Developer teams will compete to build blockchain-based solutions for the healthcare industry and will be awarded a cash prize. The 2016 winner will also be featured on the main stage with their company, SimplyVital Health.
Additionally, developers will participate in an enterprise code camp, and a Continuing Legal Education workshop will be organized for local area attorneys who want to secure credits.
BTC Inc. CEO David Bailey commented on the event, saying:
“Nashville is already regarded as the healthcare epicenter of the U.S., but there is a tremendous opportunity here to establish the city as a technology innovation hub as well … There is no bigger disruptive force in the world right now than blockchain technology. Distributed: Health continues to provide a platform for the biggest innovators and thought leaders to share their ideas while cementing Nashville’s place as the healthcare blockchain hub.”
