Claudio Gil, a Twitter user, said,
“The fact USDT is trading at $1 is mind-boggling. It’s like seeing an elephant win the elections. BTC is trading with a premium of 6% at Bitfinex but is that the entire risk assessment of the market?! It makes me question my own sanity”
While Bitcoin was trading at a premium price on Bitfinex, at the same time, the coin was priced at $5676.85 on Coinbase Pro. The 24-hour trading volume for the coin was recorded to be over $69 billion, showing a difference of around $350 between the exchanges.

The coin has been trading at a premium price on Bitfinex, ever since the NY Attorney General announced an investigation against the exchange and Tether. This news also caused Bitcoin’s price to slump, with the coin dipping below $5000 level. This also resulted in Tether losing its peg against the US Dollar, as it was slightly valued below $1.
Nevertheless, the coin soon regained its momentum, with Bitfinex issuing an official statement claiming inaccuracies in the Attorney General’s report. Notably, Tether held its peg, even after a court document revealed that the stablecoin was only about 75 percent reserved by cash equivalents and assets.
