Uber’s off the hook for its self-driving car’s fatal accident — but what about human drivers?

Uber‘s been let off the hook by prosecutors in a case involving one of the company’s autonomous test cars that fatally struck a pedestrian in Tempe, Arizona last year, reports Reuters. Uber air taxi partner unveils its Bell Nexus flying car

At CES, Fort Worth, Texas-based firm Bell revealed a full-scale model of its Nexus hybrid-electric air taxi that can take off and land vertically, and seat five people. The flying car/helicopter uses six tilting ducted fans to move through the air and make vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) maneuvers, and its hybrid propulsion system is said to allow for covering greater distances than a purely electric drivetrain. дальше »

Uber is killing off its self-driving truck division

Reuters reports that Uber is shuttering its autonomous freight truck division after some two years in the space. The company got started with self-driving trucks back in 2016, when it acquired Otto – a startup focused on developing aftermarket kits to allow trucks to cover long distances on freeways autonomously – for $680 million. дальше »
