On Twitter, XUMM Support recently warned of a new scam trick. The following was stated:
Scammers are currently sending emails claiming to be Ripple; “Distributing 500M XRP amongst XPRL holders” They then try to lure you to a site that looks like ripple dot com, but it isn’t (mind the `i`). There’s a full Sign in with Xumm/Ledger/Trezor/.. on that site.
Also added:
Obviously we blocked the Xumm integration when we just found out. Once a user signs in, they will ask you to sign a “SetRegularKey” transaction. If a user would engage, they would authorize another XRPL account (owned by the scammers) to send transactions on your behalf.
They then empty your account. NEVER SIGN A TRANSACTION IF YOU DON’T FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IT WILL DO! If you signed a Set Regular Key without explicitly wanting to authorize the other account on your account, please remove it ASAP. Questions? Contact Xumm Support (only In-app)
