Why philosophy and business should go hand in hand

2019-4-22 11:00

Business people and entrepreneurs like myself often talk about ‘nice to have’ and ‘need to have. ’ The latter refers to things you cannot do without. In a start-up IT company like mine, this could be things like a computer, desk, chair, and mobile phone.

Examples of ‘nice to have’ items could be a foosball table or a designer lamp. Transferred to the world of education, the logic in recent years seems to be that the humanities should be trimmed because these are merely ‘nice to have’ for society. This is the subject of discussion in my home country of Denmark,…

Bitcoin Price Analysis: Slow Upward Drift Tests Market Supply

A slow, grinding upward drift has been the name of the game for bitcoin’s market over the last few weeks. The upward drift is bringing us slowly to a level that was previously rejected violently:Figure 1: BTC-USD, Daily Candles, Upward DriftOur third rejection of the red resistance level shown above brought the market into a test of macro support in the mid-$3,000s.

A CBC Casper Tutorial

In order to help more people understand “the other Casper” (Vlad Zamfir’s CBC Casper), and specifically the instantiation that works best for blockchain protocols, I thought that I would write an explainer on it myself, from a less abstract and more “close to concrete usage” point of view.

Bitcoin Price Analysis: Wait and See Where Recent Signs of Strength Lead

This week realized a big gain as bitcoin enjoyed a 25% rally from its local bottom before topping out around $4,400. Support currently appears to be established in the mid-$3,000s as the market remains indecisive over its next move:Figure 1: BTC-USD, Daily Candles, Current Support LevelFigure 1 shows the relevance of the current support level as it represents a previous support level that was never properly retested during last year’s parabolic bull market.

Waltonchain (WTC) sold 2% of their holds in this abysmal market conditions and that raised a few eyebrows

Even though, they like to claim they have a mainnet – since it is not public yet and it is under extensive “testing”, it perfectly fits the definition of a testnet.

Bitcoin Price Watch: Currency Remains at $6,400, Good Sign Things Aren’t Slumping

At press time, bitcoin remains in the lower $6,400 region, and is virtually unchanged from yesterday. The father of crypto – like every digital asset in today’s market – has exhibited heavy signs of volatility over the past week, typically hopping around between $6,000 and $6,500. Thus, it’s nice to know the coin is looking […]

YouTube is flush with ‘prank’ videos involving laxatives

YouTube recently removed a mean-spirited video involving a YouTuber poisoning a loved one with laxatives. That’s nice, YouTube. Now get started on the thousands of other videos just like it. Recently, the website Babe ran an expose on the channel “CJ SO COOL,” which stars a father who repeatedly “pranks” his four children and wife and laughs at the ensuing pain, suffering, and chaos his antics cause.

Governance, Part 2: Plutocracy Is Still Bad

Coin holder voting, both for governance of technical features, and for more extensive use cases like deciding who runs validator nodes and who receives money from development bounty funds, is unfortunately continuing to be popular, and so it seems worthwhile for me to write another post explaining why I (and Vlad Zamfir and others) do not consider it wise for Ethereum (or really, any base-layer blockchain) to start adopting these kinds of mechanisms in a tightly coupled form in any significant way.
