Wanchain (WAN) announced in a blog post this morning that its 2.0 update has officially gone live. Branded as the “first and only cross-chain blockchain platform with secure Multiparty Computing”, Wanchain 2.0 aims to offer users a solution for cross-chain transactions.
“Wanchain 2.0 is a significant milestone for the entire blockchain space, marking a major step toward the vision of a fully interconnected internet of value,” reads today’s announcement. “Wanchain 2.0 is the world’s first and only interoperable blockchain with secure multi-party computing, which will eventually allow for seamless integration with almost any blockchain in existence.”
Wanchain 2.0’s platform is currently fully compatible with the Ethereum blockchain. Users are now able to easily transfer Ether for a new Wanchain token called WETH at a 1:1 value. This seamless transfer is achieved through a system of smart contracts, multi-party computing, and threshold key sharing design on the Wanchain 2.0 platform. Virtual tokens stored on the Wanchain platform can be available for immediate use to make Ethereum transactions including ICO investments.
The team behind Wanchain plan to integrate Bitcoin (BTC) and additional ERC-20 tokens into its platform by the end of the year.
“As integrations with additional blockchains continue to be added, Wanchain’s new cross-chain technology is set to pave the way toward a future where individuals and enterprises can gain access to a decentralized platform offering privacy-protected financial services such as digital asset management and exchanges, loans, and credit payments.”
Wanchain 2.0 is an ambitious project that, if functional, could effectively provide multi-token holders a much needed service in easy to use cross-blockchain transactions. However, the project may still have a long way to go before offering a wider range of use beyond Ether to WETH conversion.
