UEFA Tickets to Be Sent to Fans’ Smartphones via Blockchain in 2020
UEFA has recently revealed that the association will now distribute around one million tickets via blockchain technology, and therefore join a long list of sports platforms that have embraced the revolutionary technology.
UEFA Tickets on BlockchainThe association maintained that the new ticketing model will make entry into the stadium seamless, easy, and more importantly transparent. On the reason for the adoption of digital ticketing, UEFA stated:
“Supporters who purchase follow my team tickets will receive their mobile tickets only once their team has qualified for a specific match. The ability to deliver mobile tickets to fans close to matchday will considerably enhance the fan journey, as fans will no longer be required to visit collection points to exchange ticket vouchers”.
The match tickets will be delivered no later than even days before the match and thus expected to facilitate even ticket distribution among fans and eradicate any form of congestion or inconvenience for both the fans and the association.
Blockchain and SportsDue to its high success rate in other sectors, sports organizations are gradually looking towards blockchain technology to help the sector, especially in the area of ticketing, so as to reduce or totally eradicate any form of forgery and ensure transparency in the distribution process.
