The TRON Foundation is partnering up in a new opportunity to expand the use cases for blockchain technology. The ALS Association is launching a new campaign called #VoiceYourLove, and donations will be tracked through the TRON Foundation’s blockchain.

The #VoiceYourLove campaign is centered around building awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The condition is also referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and the funds raised through this campaign will be directed into companies that research treatments. The ultimate goal is that there will be a cure for the disease. The press release explains,

“ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Over the course of the disease, people living with ALS lose the ability to move, to speak, and eventually, to breathe. ALS is always fatal, usually within two to five years of diagnosis.”

TRON will participate by lending their blockchain technology to the ALS Association as a means to track the donations as they come in, and to track where they are directed to during the outflow as well.

The press release that confirmed this participation also stated that the information tracked through TRON’s blockchain will be publicly available when the campaign ends. Showing support for the efforts made by this organization, CEO Justin Sun of Tron has already donated $250,000 to their cause.

Sun stated that the donation that he submitted was an effort of both TRON and BitTorrent as a way to celebrate their unity going into this endeavor. Sun also expressed that he hoped his contribution to this worthy cause would encourage

“others in the blockchain industry to voice their love by donating to help find a cure.”

Right now, the ALS Association works in over 150 labs around the world to push towards solutions for the survivors of this terrible disease. Based on the current information in the market, they are the largest ALS research program in the world.

Brian Frederick, the executive vice president of communications at the ALS Foundation, said in the press release,

“The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge became a global media phenomenon in 2014, and continues every summer. Our new #VoiceYourLove campaign, conceived with our partner TRON, is a new awareness and fund-raising drive that combines cool heads and warm hearts.”

Cryptocurrency platforms around the world are getting involved in charitable work too. BitPay partnered last month with the Wikimedia Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that runs Wikipedia.

Their partnership allowed Wikipedia to accept crypto donations for the support of their platform. In the same month, global volunteer service firm Zhiyuan Hui partnered with EveriToken to develop a volunteer tracking platform on blockchain as well.
