Layer2 networks witness substantial declines in transaction fees following the latest Ethereum Dencun upgrade.
OKLink data shows Starkent, Optimism (OP), and Arbitrum’s (ARB) daily charges plunged significantly.
Source – OKLinkStarknet saw the most dip, with the average transaction fee decreasing to $0.5 from $0.98. zkSync Era followed as the same metric dipped to $0.18 from $0.4.
Optimism noted a plunge to $0.04 from $1.10, whereas Base’s daily average transaction fees fell to $0.18 from $0.88. Further, the cost of transacting on Arbitrum dropped from $0.62 to $0.58.
Moreover, the cost related to the zkSync Era sequencer plummeted by approximately 88% to 0.013 Ether.
A lucrative environment for L2 networksThe notable decline in transaction fees and the improved throughput will likely create a favorable atmosphere for flourishing L2 platforms and their applications.
That signals imminent surges in developments associated with Layer2 scaling solutions.
The Cancun-Deneb Upgrade aims to improve the modularity and scalability within L2 networks. That will enhance security in the ETH blockchain and heighten the chain’s overall usability.
The upgrade lays the foundations for upcoming developments within the Ether network, targeting a globally accessible, decentralized, and scalable settlement platform.
