The United Nations Experiment With Blockchain Technology

2019-12-29 07:00

Hundreds of organizations are looking to use blockchain technology. Even the United Nations may be added to this list in the very near future.

Even for the UN, embracing new technologies is crucial in 2019 and beyond.

The United Nations and Blockchain Technology

According to United Nations secretary-general Antonio Guterres, it is merely a matter of time.

In fact, the blockchain may prove to be crucial to this organization’s goal of building a sustainable world.

This decision is not entirely surprising, considering how various nations are exploring blockchain technology as well.

With even China getting in on the action, the United Nations can’t stay behind in this regard.

In this digital age, the use of innovative technologies has proven to be crucial.

It is also not the first time that Guterres has shown a positive bias toward blockchain.

Last year, he claimed how distributed ledgers can address the trust deficit disorder.

How the United Nations will utilize the blockchain, has not been determined as of yet.

Exploring the use cases will be the first order of business.

For now, it appears that five different blockchain projects are in development at this time.

Interestingly enough, three of those appear to focus on addressing financial equality in one way or another.
