Tezos Foundation Strengthens XTZ Blockchain Developers With New Kingsland University Course

2018-11-12 12:51

The notion that knowledge is power has been discussed by one and all, from Machiavelli to” little finger”. Knowledge is, of course, a lot more than that. The primacy of this fact is not lost on Tezos foundation as they partnered with Kingsland University who specialize in education solutions in social media and disruptive technologies.

At the end of this rather memorable year, it has not gone unnoticed that while blockchain developers are in high demand there is a decided supply shortage. To exasperate the problem most people seem to be more inclined towards Bitcoin or Ethereum.

Thus this latest deal will help set focus on implementing a curriculum to foster more Tezos developers. This latest drive seems to be after the launch of the Tezos mainnet in September 2018 and a concentrated effort by the foundation to involve more institutions, with the aim of training 1,000 Tezos developers.

Who Is The Training Provider

For those who might not be aware, Kingsland's blockchain developer training program is the world's first accredited course for software developers who are interested in learning programming skills in the blockchain. The training institute has been nurturing talent for almost a decade. Their staunch belief in the blockchain technology motivates their industry-aligned curricula. There are multiple formats, including hybrid online, micro-intensive and full immersion classes affording students great flexibility.

What Is Tezos

Some might recall the hype surrounding the cryptocurrency launch of Tezos.

Tezos is described as,

“a decentralized blockchain that governs itself by establishing a true digital commonwealth and facilitates formal verification, a technique which mathematically proves the correctness of the code governing transactions and boosts the security of the most sensitive or financial weighted smart contracts.”

It is a blockchain network which is linked to a digital token, called a Tez or a Tezzie (XTZ). However, it involves no mining of Tez. Instead, holders are rewarded purely for participating in the proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. Tezos is also unique among other top cryptocurrencies, as it is the only one with its protocol written in the OCaml programming language.

This Tezos Foundation-Kingsland University collaboration will see the two working in conjunction to help nurture and maintain a Tezos-centric blockchain development curriculum.

Realizing its importance Tezos Foundation President, Ryan Jesperson commented on the partnership at the Crypto Summit conference in New York City, stating:

“Kingsland has a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality, work-ready blockchain development programs and we’re excited to work with them to support the long-term success of the Tezos ecosystem. We believe that the new wave of 1,000 developers that are being trained in 2019 will help Tezos’ robust ecosystem continue to grow and gain adoption.”

After last years breakneck activity, the Tezos ecosystem has not been a lot in the news much, for good or bad. Edward Tate, who is currently working on an Avalanche implementation for Tezos, pointed out the lack of quality support as a contributing factor.

This might well be the case due to the niche nature of the market. With a focus on future developers and an actual target in mind, this seems like an interesting development for the industry as a whole. Divesting expertise can only be a good thing for the industry.
