The novel coronavirus pandemic is a very serious problem that needs to be treated with respect. Even so, some people see it as a way to make money, a decision that might backfire sooner rather than later.
One man and his brother in Tennessee are finding this out the hard way.
Hoarding Sanitizers for Profit BackfiresTogether with his brother, he decided to buy a ton of hand sanitizers from various stores.
A total of 18,000 units were collected from small shops, Walmart, Staples, and Home Depot.
The purpose of buying so many hand sanitizers is to resell them at a profit.
Although some units have been sold without issues, the brothers now face ample problems.
They are no longer allowed to sell these items on Amazon and eBay due to price gouging practices.
A prospect of making crazy money off others’ misfortune tends to bring out the worst in people.
For the brothers, that means they still have nearly 18.000 units waiting to be sold.
Their products include hand sanitizers, face masks, and disinfecting wipes.
None of these products can be sold on eBay and Amazon, at least in the United States.
What will happen to the remainder of the bottles remains to be seen.
Selling them for a regular price or slightly higher seems to be the best course of action.
