Taptalk announced plans to integrate the KIN cryptocurrency into its platform earlier today:
“Tapatalk users will receive Kin for posting quality content in the app, and in turn, they can send Kin to other creators on the platform.”
The press release was a joint announcement from the Kin Foundation and Tapatalk.
The Kin Foundation is in charge of promoting “the fair and productive growth of the Kin ecosystem.” The latest partnership with Tapatalk, which supports 200,000 forums in 186 countries, will go a long way towards promoting the use of the KIN cryptocurrency.
The press release revealed more details about how the partnership will work:
“Through the partnership, Tapatalk will harness the power of crypto-enabled, peer-to-peer experiences to increase engagement in its large, online community. Soon, Tapatalk users will be able to receive Kin for posting quality content in the app, and in turn, they can send Kin to other creators on the platform.”
Tapatalk aggregates forums from across the internet. Users can interact with multiple forums through a single app. Today, Tapatalk users use the app to share their hobbies and passions, interact within communities or companies, and form different groups around the world.
It’s not totally clear what kinds of Kin rewards users will receive for which activities. However, some of the interactions available within the Tapatalk app include:
Creating content for forums Following forums from across the internet Interacting with other users around topics of shared interestThe press release added that users will eventually be able to send Kin to other users on the platform:
“Once Kin is fully integrated into the app, Tapatalk users will be able to receive rewards for the content they add and interacting with the community, as well as gifting each other Kin for contributing to discussions.”
Moving forward, Tapatalk and Kin are working closely to ensure seamless integration between the Kin ecosystem and the Tapatalk app. The teams expect the integration to go live “early in the new year” of 2019. The teams also cautioned that they were focusing on mobile app implementation – not desktop implementation at this time.
Ultimately, this is big news for the KIN cryptocurrency. Tapatalk is the leading mobile forum app. Now, that app has announced that it plans to implement KIN into its userbase in a major way.
The price of KIN, unfortunately for hodlers, has not exactly responded positively to the news. KIN is down 11% over the last 24 hours after surging briefly following the announcement.
KIN, like many cryptocurrencies, peaked in value in January 2018, reaching a price of $0.001. Today, KIN sets at a price of $0.000029 with a total market cap of $22 million, placing it at #135 on the list of cryptocurrencies by market cap.
Tapatalk isn’t the first project to use crypto to incentivize quality content on social media. Steemit was one of the first major crypto projects to do so. Steemit users are rewarded for posting quality content on the platform, and users can earn hundreds of dollars in STEEM for a good, original forum post. The Brave Browser and its Basic Attention Token also works in a similar way.
Will the Kin partnership with Tapatalk take the Kin ecosystem to the next level? Stay tuned for early 2019 to discover how KIN will work with Tapatalk’s existing userbase.
