Satoshi’s World Can Be Used To Lay Messages And Images Over Real-World Locations
Satoshi’s World has been capturing the crypto community’s attention lately. They call themselves to be the street view version of Satoshi’s place so instead of writing on a single shared wall you can write wherever you want in the world.
Satoshi’s PlaceSatoshi’s Place is meant to showcase the low cost and flexibility of micro-payments offered by Lightning Network. For the price of just one satoshi, anyone can post a single pixel to be shared. Of course, one can post as many pixels as they want, as long as they’re willing to pay for it. Once a pixel or group of pixels is drawn, it can be drawn over at any time.
The site is not for the faint of heart, however. As anyone can post anything, all sorts of regrettable and unpleasant things are appearing. Some examples include grotesque imagery, web addresses to gross out and shock humor sites, and what can only be described as immature schoolyard toilet humor style graffiti.
How Does It Work?Use the left pane to search existing graffitis and click on the markers to see what others wrote.
Drop the pegman wherever on the map, arrange your point of view from the right pane and type your text/emoji/image link into the textbox, click Submit. An invoice will be generated and as soon as you pay it, your text will be published. Keep in mind someone else can write on top of your graffiti. Price is 50 satoshis per character. Emojis can be 1 to 4 characters.

The Next Web who are based out of Netherlands also got in the action and sprayed “Long Bitcoin Short the Bankers” over the Amsterdam Central Station.
Notably, without the Lightning network, the service wouldn’t be the same. This is due to Bitcoin‘s network fees. When users send very small amounts of Bitcoin (like the ones in Satoshi’s World), transaction fees can actually outweigh the original amount to be sent. Lightning Network removes this barrier by allowing Bitcoin to be sent directly between nodes through special payment channels. Another reason is that Lightening is concluding. So once these refreshes, they can see the graffiti immediately.
