San Francisco based blockchain company Ripple recently partnered with 11 new educational institutions across the globe as part of its University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI).
The initiative is now supporting 29 schools in total which will help in academic research, innovation and technical development in blockchain, digital payments, and cryptocurrencies.
UBRI Takes Blockchain Research AheadUBRI was launched in June 2018 and has since worked towards increasing academic research and activity in the blockchain sector.
It works with leading faculty, graduate and post-doctoral students from the top universities around the world.
The latest cohort of partners features some of the most prestigious universities in the world.
The 11 new partners of the project are:
Carnegie Mellon University Duke University, Cornell University Northeastern University, University of Michigan University of Kansas Georgetown University National University of Singapore Morgan State University University of Sao Paolo Institute for Fintech Research, Tsinghua University How Does UBRI Connect With Students?The partners of the program utilize UBRI resources to develop curricula and expand or launch courses.
They will also host conferences and award scholarships for students and faculty who are pursuing work in crypto, blockchain, and digital payments.
Ripple noted:
“These programs, driven by the university partners, are poised to prepare the next generation of engineers, business leaders, entrepreneurs and other professionals to apply these technologies in practice.”
The programs will also increase positive awareness about the transformation that blockchain technology could bring to different industries.
Ripple also wrote that academic institutions would be a source of innovation for blockchain, just like they were in the early days of the internet.
Ripple said that the rigor and independence of these institutions help them in fulfilling this role which further enables companies and entrepreneurs to look at how blockchain can impact the world beyond cryptocurrencies.
