On July 30, Ripple published on its official website that it was starting a campaign in partnership with the nonprofit organization Raising Malawi, which will last for a month.
Raising Funds for Orphaned and Vulnerable ChildrenThe subject of this campaign will be to raise funds for orphaned and vulnerable children in Malawi. The campaign, which kicked off yesterday, July 30, will run through till August 31. And Ripple will pair all the public donations raised for this cause and assist individuals to sponsor the children through Facebook directly.
Speaking about the campaign, Ripple’s SVP of Business Operations, Eric van Miltenburg, said:
“We’re honored to be a part of Raising Malawi’s amazing work with some of the world’s most underserved children and are grateful to our investors at Sound Ventures for making the introduction to us and this important cause.”
Reportedly, almost one million children in Malawi have either lost one or both of their parents to HIV/AIDS, which has left them orphaned and with no one to cater to them. According to the publication on the Ripple website, the platform and its executive team are concerned about giving back to society and also helping in the elimination of any hurdle that would prevent marginalized populations from being part of the global community. The team stated that the latest donation to Raising Malawi serves as one of the various examples of how Ripple goes about fulfilling its philosophy.
Raising Malawi NGOSince its inception in 2006, the Raising Malawi organization has successfully supported over 10,000 of the orphaned children through different means, ranging from direct health-care services to providing educational support for them. In addition, the NGO has also contributed to the establishment of the first-ever pediatric surgery and intensive care unit in Malawi.
