Ripple Director of Product Unveils Payburner Platform Based on XRP in Beta Release
Through a series of tweets on his Twitter page, Director of product at Ripple Craig DeWitt announced the introduction of the beta version of the Payburner platform that will be a gateway to P2P payments based on XRP.

“Today Payburner is launching the beta for a new platform that enables instant, global peer-to-peer payments. Our growing network feature set includes a browser plugin, PayID integration, Request for Payment with encrypted peer to peer messaging, PayID network search, and a brand new ecommerce flow for 1-click checkout experiences,” DeWitt wrote in a Medium post yesterday.
For the beta platform, the services will be available only for Brave and Chrome browsers. However, he clarified that other browsers including Opera will be introduced with time.
According to the post, it highlighted that Payburner’s mission is to deliver excellent internet based payment experiences starting with peer to peer payments and eCommerce.
This will be enabled by Ripple’s XRP, which is the fourth by market capitalization according to Coinmarketcap.
“We believe strongly in the freedoms digital assets like XRP deliver to individuals and businesses,” DeWitt stated.
The payment platform will significantly increase XRP’s liquidity and further its utility, which is among top priority for Ripple Labs. XRP has been up 10.99% in the past 7 days, with its volatility expected to rise with the top digital assets.
Notable Functionalities of Payburner that Uses XRPAmong the many functionalities, Payburner will enable users to purchase tangible goods online using XRP. The platform developers put the capabilities for 1-click eCommerce payments from xSongs.store and opened them so that anyone with a website can receive XRP payments easily.
Furthermore, the beta Payburner version allows payments from any XRP address, not just Payburner users. However, with a requirement that the ecommerce merchant possesses a Payburner account.
“As a Payburner user, you can enable 1-click checkout experiences at any website using Payburner Paybuttons. The websites xSongs.store and spud.store are examples of 1-click ecommerce checkout experiences powered by Payburner,” DeWitt explained.
He gave an example of a website, Spud.store, to try out the new functionality. The website sells potatoes using XRP as a form of payment. Other notable functionality includes the peer to peer payment, which requires wallet functionality and the ability to instruct transfers.
The plugin also supports the newly launched PayID for easier payments. The PayID address is given to every user during the registration process.
