The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has “neither [confirmed] nor [denied] the existence” of information regarding the real identity of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, Motherboard reported June 14.
— CIA (@CIA) June 6, 2014 Oberhaus suggested that if the FBI and the CIA know anything about the creator of Bitcoin, they are “not talking.” The question of the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto has been one of the biggest mysteries in the crypto community since Bitcoin was launched in 2008.
The first attempt to reveal Satoshi’s identity goes back to October 2011, just a few months after Satoshi went silent.
Also in 2016, Alexander Muse wrote on his blog Cryptomuse that the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) had identified the real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto using stylometry.
Muse reported that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would not publicly confirm his FOIA request even if they knew the BTC billionaire’s identity.
The “request has been rejected,” came response from the CIA, “with the agency stating that it can neither confirm nor deny the existence of the requested documents. ” A tech writer petitioned ‘the agency’ to see what it had on the subject of Satoshi Nakamoto, the name credited with founding Bitcoin, the world’s first decentralized cryptocurrency.
The United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) may have files on Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious Bitcoin creator. There are also indications that the country’s National Security Agency (NSA) might know the real identity (or identities) of Satoshi Nakamoto.
