Polygon Announces the Integration of Polygon Blockchain Datasets into Google BigQuery Enabling in-depth Analytics on Polygon Blockchain Data
Polygon, the full-stack scaling solution for Ethereum, formerly known as Matic Network, has announced the integration of Polygon Blockchain Datasets into Google BigQuery, enabling the querying and analysis of on-chain data on Polygon in a simple, organized manner using Google Cloud.
The integration of Polygon data into Google’s BigQuery platform will enable developers, data analysts and crypto-enthusiasts to better understand the Polygon Blockchain and derive powerful insights from it. Polygon aims to serve as Ethereum’s Internet of Blockchains, bringing massive scale to Ethereum via the Polygon SDK, supporting stand-alone chains and secured chains. The availability of a fast and scalable data insights platform is critical to Polygon’s growth with Dapps, Enterprises and other Blockchain Solutions, and Google Cloud’s Public Datasets program does just that.
The Google Cloud Platform is a suite of cloud computing services that runs on the same infrastructure that Google uses internally for its end-user products, such as Google Search, Gmail, file storage, and YouTube. Google BigQuery is a serverless, highly scalable, and cost-effective multi-cloud data warehouse designed for business agility and Google Public Datasets provide a playground for those new to big data and data analysis and offers a powerful data repository of more than 100 public datasets from different industries, allowing users to join these with your own to produce new insights.
Google BigQuery makes it simple to query on-chain data in a simple, organized manner on the cloud using standard SQL syntax. It serves as a massive indexer that allows users to perform powerful data analysis and perform the same or similar queries on multiple blockchains at once and compare them, or track the cross-chain activity on interoperable tokens.
Hosted by Google Cloud as a financial services public dataset, the Polygon blockchain dataset has been listed in the Google Cloud Marketplace, and can be found here.
This dataset is part of a larger effort to make cryptocurrency data available in Google BigQuery through the Google Cloud Public Datasets program. The program is hosting a number of real-time cryptocurrency datasets, with plans to expand offerings to include additional distributed ledgers. You can find these datasets by searching for “crypto” in the GCP Marketplace. For analytics interoperability, Google has designed a unified schema that allows all Bitcoin-like datasets to share queries.
Some possibilities unlocked using Google BigQuery on the Polygon Dataset include the ability to:
Monitor gas costs over time Monitor a smart contract’s calls and activity Multi-Chain Analysis for SDKs like the Polygon SDK Integrate with traditional financial record processing systems Determine the most active/popular tokens, contracts, or applications on Polygon Audit groups of transactionsBlockchain analytics platform Nansen has built a Polygon dashboard that can be found here.
Google Cloud, Polygon and 1729 by blockchain leader Balaji S. will also be working together on a DLT Analytics Challenge to showcase the utility of Polygon, with prizes up to 20,000$ for top submissions.
This will be a major step towards analyzing and gaining insights from the ~6M txns/day that take place on Polygon and will go a long way towards growing and building the Polygon and Ethereum ecosystems.

About PolygonPolygon is the first well-structured, easy-to-use platform for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development. Its core component is Polygon SDK, a modular, flexible framework that supports building and connecting Secured Chains like Plasma, Optimistic Rollups, zkRollups, Validium etc and Standalone Chains like Polygon POS, designed for flexibility and independence. Polygon’s scaling solutions have seen widespread adoption with 350+ Dapps, ~121M txns and ~1M+ unique users.
