Cryptocurrencies and AI Will Define the Future of the Humanity Says Peter Thiel on The Rubin Report
The dichotomy between artificial intelligence (AI) and cryptocurrencies will definitely shape the future of the humanity. This is what Peter Thiel, PayPal co-founder and billionaire, said on The Rubin Report.
What he says is very important because he puts it as a world that needs to choose between a ‘Big Brother’ and totalitarian government or a world of greater liberty. You can watch it from this timestamp and carries on the conversation about crypto integration into the future for a few minutes from this point:
During the conversation Thiel said if Bitcoin is the development that represents the libertarian point of view, then, AI is the communist and collectivist side. As cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin propose a decentralized world, AI is the view for these that think in a centralized world.
He then mentioned that in the past, the humanity was thinking about a centralized government and world controlling everything. With people very happy about that. However, things turned out to be different. Since cryptocurrencies appeared, the supporters want to move towards a decentralized world.
However, the situation has now stabilized and there is no clear answer on whether we are moving towards centralization or decentralization.
About it he mentioned:
“68 was centralized, 98 was decentralized, in 2018 in some ways the pendulum has swung back to centralized. Big governments, big databases that can monitor and survey people and know more about you than you know about yourself. Or things like this sort of creepy, big brother type thing.”
He then asks about the future, if we want it to be decentralized or centralized. He explained that AI means that there are large databases that are controlled by important governments all around the world and help them monitor citizens in a much more easy way. Indeed, this could make communism much more efficient, he says.
Thiel says that communism would become more totalitarian that it ever was back in the 20th century. Indeed, he then explained that it is not a coincidence that the Chinese communist party hates cryptocurrencies and loves artificial intelligence.
“It’s not a coincidence along these lines that the Chinese communist party hates crypto and loves AI,” he commented.
It is important to remember that China has decided to ban cryptocurrency trading activities in the country and Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs).
It is clear that virtual currencies provide individuals the freedom to decide what to do with their funds, how to move them and when to do it. Users do not need to trust a third party in order to send or receive funds, no matter where they are.
What do you guys think about the take on artificial intelligence (AI) being big brother comparison compared to the ‘decentralize' movement that cryptocurrency's stand for?
