The web browser Opera and Wyre, the e-payments startup, have closed a partnership to expand the Opera’s built-in crypto wallet buying power.
The announcement was made on Tuesday. Opera will focus mostly on crypto buyers from the US. The partnership will also bring Apple Pay functionality as far as a debit card and iOS Android integration goes. It will allow users to make Bitcoin (BTC) or Ether (ETH) purchases of up to $250. The fee for these transactions will be 30 cents plus a 2.9% commission, said Charles Hamel, the Head of Crypto at Opera.

Dapp Developers Are TargetedHamel added that the ceiling is not very high yet meant to raise the interest of decentralized app (DApp) developers and users to make such payments daily. This means speculators and investors are not targeted, especially those who are looking to spend more than $250 in crypto each day. He said:
“As our browser-based wallet is focused around the usage of cryptocurrencies on the web and using dApps, we expect the vast majority of transactions will not hit that limit.”
Opera Has a Long-Term MissionAll this is part of Opera’s bigger, long-term plan to become the Web 3.0 browser to which people are going to when it comes to making crypto payments, seeing TRON support was added.
There’s a dapp ETH version compatible with desktop computers, also some crypto protective layers for mining and a few built-in blockchain-based features that some other browsers are offering using third-party extensions. The native wallet from Opera already supported BTC payments.
Plans to Introduce More Crypto Payment Options for Other CountriesWhen it comes to the on-the-go fiat on-ramp options, this was made very simple for the Opera community using dapps and their interaction with some of the existing blockchain projects. Hamel said the Opera transaction time is 30 seconds since Wyre is the custodian of all the crypto assets that are sold through the web browser.
Scandinavia has already seen all these features being rolled out by Opera. At the moment, the browser has plans to introduce more crypto options to the world’s countries.
