Metalink has partnered with OpenSea, the largest marketplace for non-fungible tokens (NFTs), to boost customer service. The decision comes amid a tough month for OpenSea after a vulnerability on inactive listings on the platform was exploited.
Metalink partners with OpenSeaMetalink will work with OpenSea to create three channels that the NFT marketplace can use to issue announcements, offer customer support, and collect user feedback. The head of community at OpenSea, Stevey Tromberg, stated that this partnership would be done on a trial basis.
“Our goal is to create a direct channel for you to interact with OpenSea to get support, offer feedback, receive updates, and to share any other information that will help us better serve you. We will have dedicated community support staff from OpenSea spending a few hours a day in Metalink, all of whom will be marked as verified OpenSea staff,” Tromberg said.
This partnership could deter OpenSea users from using Discord, which has become highly popular with scammers and hackers. Some of the NFT communities on Discord, including Crypto Chicks and Fractal.io, have been hacked, making NFT users deter from using the platform. This partnership between OpenSea and Metalink could be a sign of relief for NFT users exploited on Discord.
User complaints on OpenSeaRecently, users on OpenSea have been lodging a series of complaints. Shortly after the exploit that led to some valuable NFTs being sold at lower prices, the company was faced with another issue of fraudsters on Discord pretending to be employees at OpenSea.
Users on the platform have also complained of a lack of adequate communication. After the exploit, users said that OpenSea failed to offer clear details on how users can protect themselves from such unwanted sales. Some experts even argued that the solution provided by OpenSea would trigger more exploits. OpenSea has since paid out $1.8 million to the affected users.
Last month, OpenSea issued an apology on Twitter after imposing a limit of 50 items on its free minting tool. Following a public outcry, the platform reversed this decision but argued that most of the items minted via the tool were plagiarized, fake or scam.
