OpenNode Rejects $1.25 Million Offer By Roger Ver To Build On BCH Instead Of BTC
A software engineer working with Opennode has recently claimed that Roger Ver had offered the company $1.24 million to switch their service to bitcoin cash but the company has openly rejected the offer.
No amount of money will make us service inferior money. https://t.co/unBoSX2zpZ

Rui Gomes, a developer with the Lightning Network called BCH ‘inferior money,' and implicitly likened the offer of investment to a buy-out attempt. While Open Node may not be swayed, Roger Ver has now essentially set up an opposition between BCH's model for scaling and the Lightning Network. This likely will not be the last we hear of the back-and-forth between the two crypto camps.
Ver sat down for an interview on Bitcoin.com. In that, he reveals the offer which is actually addressed to Tim Draper, U.S. based venture capitalist and Bitcoin supporter, who recently invested $1.25 million USD in the same mentioned payment processor startup – OpenNode.
He said:
“So Tim Draper, I’ll match your investment in OpenNode, don’t have to give me any equity whatsoever. You just have to start building on the cryptocurrency that actually has the ability to become money for the world in a reasonable number of decades rather than waiting to a century plus.”
Ver expressed that Bitcoin (BTC) can not become money for the world in a reasonable amount of time with a blocksize limited to a 1 MB with 4 MB blockweight. This being said, Roger asked to build the platform on Bitcoin Cash rather that Bitcoin to get the $1 million USD donation.
Many Bitcoin payment processors have emerged that enable merchants and businesses to accept payments in BTC. Most of them are cheaper and faster than traditional payments, but none provide instant transaction confirmation with near-zero fees. That is precisely what OpenNode has been able to achieve.
The company aims to accelerate bitcoin adoption among interested parties thus allowing them to experience the power and speed of the Lightning Network. It envisions a healthy network using bitcoin that can demonstrate transparency, security, and speed in a bid to become a global Bitcoin payment processing service provider.
