NV Energy and Blockchains, LLC are now partnering to work on projects that will envision a brighter future for the energy industry using blockchain technology. The chief executives of both companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that underpins their commitment to collaborate on piloting these blockchain-based concepts that help customers regain control over energy creation, storage, transaction, and consumption. The projects will be incubated at the Innovation Park headquarters of Blockchains, LLC.
Creating Customer-centric PlatformsFor the CEO of Blockchains, LLC, Jeffrey Berns, creating customer-centered technology is important. He explained his vision, saying:
“The goal of this collaboration is to create technology solutions that will produce customer-centric energy platforms powered by public blockchain, all with the intent of integrating approved incubations into Nevada’s energy framework.”
He added that collaborative efforts like that with NV Energy give customers power and control of transactions using blockchain technology. The partnership, according to him, is the beginning of what the company has planned for the Innovation Park.
The Dream for Innovation Park BeginsPaul Caudill, CEO of NV Energy noted that the company is thrilled to be working with experts in blockchain technology that can help in empowering their customers. He also said that the two partners would explore several out-of-the-box energy concepts and find new ways in which the customer experience can be improved. This will include applications that help in furthering the use of energy storage, collaborative energy conservation, and renewable energy as well. He noted that the NV energy is excited about:
“The many other undiscovered applications that public blockchain technology has the potential to make possible.”
The projects developed at Innovation Park, Blockchains LLC’s home in Northern Nevada could be utilized to serve over 1.3 million customers of NV Energy. The 67,000 acres of land owned by Blockchains, LLC in this region will be devoted to the incubation of ideas that can touch all aspects of daily life using the blockchain technology. However, projects developed here will first have to be approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN).
