As we reported, Twitter has been working on a Bitcoin tipping feature that will make use of the scaling solution Lightning Network through LN using payment app Strike.

Kayvon Beykpour, product lead at Twitter & co-founder of Periscope, acknowledged this move, tweeting a high voltage sign referring to Lighting Network and a “soon” sign.

Alessandro Paluzzi, who first hunted the app for new features and shared the screenshot of BTC coming to Twitter, further shared by a report from MacRumors, also shared another screenshot late on Thursday that revealed that this goes beyond Bitcoin.

Twitter could also allow for Ethereum addresses to be included in the social media profiles to receive tips which means it won't be necessary to link a Strike account to the profile.

“People will send payments to the Ethereum address you’ve entered above,” reads one of the screenshots.

“Any adoption for crypto is good adoption,” commented crypto market maker @i.am.nomad in response to the inclusion of ETH along with BTC, which upset some of the Bitcoin supporters.

If it is for tipping, then a central party is beholden to KYC (know-your-customer), and if not tipping, it’s just an address and bio on Twitter, which it has had for years, so it doesn’t really matter, he added.

Recently, the social media giant allowed people in the US and Canada using iOS to super follow a select group of people within the US, a feature that will be rolled out to global iOS users in the next few weeks.

This “Super Follow” feature will allow creators to generate revenue by sharing subscriber-only content with their followers.

Twitter is also planning to test new privacy-related “Safety Mode” features such as the ability to edit follower lists and archive old tweets in order to give its users more control.
