“This increased access will lead to more widespread adoption, and ultimately, moves us closer to our goal of an open financial system,” reads a blog post revealing the announcement on Coinbase’s website.
One of the key features of Coinbase Commerce is the added benefits for merchants and customers of pure peer-to-peer transactions:
“When customers send money from their cryptocurrency wallet it’s sent directly to a merchant-controlled cryptocurrency address and processed on-chain by the respective blockchain. This means merchants never have to pay transaction fees to accept payments and always remain in complete control over their funds.”
Currently Coinbase Commerce is compatible with Bitcoin and Litecoin. The team behind the project are reportedly working hard to incorporate Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash functionality.
