Huobi’s US-based partner HBUS has recently been on a recruiting spree that has seen the firm bring in top talent from its competitors. Its latest hiring is Jay Ryu, who is expected to head its Mergers, Acquisitions, and Investments division.
On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, HBUS released a press statement indicating that it had hired Jay Ryu. HBUS, which is currently the leading global asset solutions provider indicated that Jay had been hired as a Vice President who would be in charge of the company’s Corporate Development.
Jay Ryu Working ExperienceJay has in the past worked with Draper Athena where he served as the firms’ Venture Capital Director. While at the company, he was tasked with leading tech-related investments across San Francisco, the Middle East, as well as in Asia. In addition, he also worked very closely with strategic and operational initiatives and portfolio organizations.
HBUS CEO, Frank Fu, when making the announcement noted that Ryu had in the course of his career worked with some of the most renowned names in the industry. Some of the people he has worked with include a well-known advocate of blockchain infrastructure and digital assets called Tim Draper.
Frank went on to state that his hiring meant that he would be able to bring in a new outlook on organizational growth as well as potential investment areas. This is because Jay Ryu has a very keen eye for noticing and encouraging the growth of new talent and startup projects.
Given that this infrastructure has started to develop and new startups are enjoying financing from venture capitalists, his experience will make it possible for the organization to establish opportunities that are both feasible and beneficial to it.
Working ExperienceBefore making a formal shift to his new home, Jay had spent more than five years at Athena. He was a director at the organization and was responsible for steering financing efforts, looking for new venture opportunities as well as spearheading some of the earlier venture capital fundraising efforts held by Draper Athena.
Apart from working as a director, he also founded his own firm known as Rage Partners. It is a consultancy company that currently represents financiers who are interested in fields such as agribusiness, entertainment, and sports. In the course of his professional career, he has also worked as a Strategic Advisor and Managing Partner at a venture capital organizations known as Checkmate Capital.
The latter comprises of an investment conglomerate whose interests lies in energy and life sciences technology. Jay also happens to be an associate of the Korean American Leaders. During the announcement, Jay stated that the cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in use today is quite different from what was in use a few months back.
He went on to state that the reason for this lies in the fact that the community has continued to mature at a very rapid rate, which is something that has seen more financiers look for ways in which they can become a part of the crypto universe.
