The IOTA Foundation announced today its newest hires this December. Mariana De La Roche Wills, Colombian human rights and social entrepreneur has been appointed to the Social Impact and Regulatory Affairs team of the Foundation. Also, Janna Zielinski has been appointed as the head of strategic projects. The IOTA Foundation is looking to add people with diverse backgrounds and business proficiencies to its team.
Who Is Mariana De La Roche Wills?Marina is a Colombian human rights lawyer who holds a law degree from Rosario University and has a specialization from Externado University in Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. She graduated “with a diploma of academic excellence.” She has worked with several NGOs during her professional career, especially based in Germany and Colombia.
Mariana is the founder of Menstrual Health Club in Germany, the first global platform designed to bring together different organizations in menstrual health. She is also the founder of the Sweden-based Fair Photo Agency, an image sharing platform that connects charities and other sustainable companies based in the Global North with photographers of the Global South.
Upon joining IOTA, she talked about the growing involvement with governments and inter-governmental organizations for real-world use cases for IoT and DLT in public interest. She said:
“In my experience, improving the situation of human rights and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals around the world is only feasible with the involvement of the public and the private sectors.”
She also said that the private sector holds the future of human rights in its hands.
Who Is Janna Zielinski?Zielinski will be joining the IOTA Foundation as the head of Strategic Projects. She will be handling the Business Model Innovation both internally and externally, working on the long-term collaboration models. She will be helping IOTA collaborators in identifying business models and market opportunities with a focus on the adoption of DLT and IoT. She will also be responsible for the development of future revenue models, along with the Board of Directors.
Zielinski had over five years of experience in Strategy and Digital Consulting and was previously working at EY as a Digital Strategy consultant, where she contributed to several global projects with DAX 30 companies. Her focus areas are business impact analysis, strategic definition, technology development, and the organizational set-up of new teams, relating to new technologies like AI, Robotics, and Blockchain.
She praised the business potential of the IOTA Foundation and said:
“In parallel to this organizational development, the business potential of Distributed Ledger Technologies has raised an enormous awareness across corporates and startups, as well as across industries and ecosystems. I am looking forward to actively contribute to the business model development, and to help the foundation to build sustainable collaboration models.”
