The IOTA Foundation has found a new way to engage with its community. Giving credit to the community for their discussions that have helped mature the thinking around the potential of the project, IOTA announced it is now launching a new community contest called The Perfect Brainstorm. The community contest aims to bring together the business-oriented, visionaries and ‘brightest thinkers’ to seek out new use-cases enabled on IOTA.
What Does the Contest Offer?The winning contestant will receive $300 and will work with the IOTA Foundation on the use case idea they suggested. The 2nd prize winner will receive $200, and the 3rd prize winner will receive $100. The 4th and 5th prize winners will not get cash rewards. However, all five winners will also be provided with an IOTA branded Ledger Nano S device.
An eligible submission will define three things – the problem that their idea solves, a description of their market and how IOTA can be utilized to solve the problem. The team size is limited to three people. IOTA will accept submissions till December 14, midnight. The interested parties have to submit PDFs that will include their use case proposals, graphics, and diagrams.
Who Will Judge the Projects?The contest jury will include three people from the IOTA Foundation who will judge the projects based on their originality, feasibility, and quality. They will also judge whether IOTA fits into the mix as a solution enabler. A total of 40 points are set for the teams with each criterion containing 10 points.
The jury will include IOTA co-founders David Sontebo and Dominik Schiener and IOTA advisor and Seedlab founder & CEO Regine Hashka-Helmer. The winners of the project will be announced on December 21.
IOTA said that it has seen new use cases of the project develop on its Discord server and Reddit and noted:
“This discussion within the IOTA community has helped mature the thinking around the possibilities of IOTA and DLT in general and has brought various interest groups and individuals closer together.”
The new crowdsourced wisdom of finding genuine, tangible use cases of the blockchain could also help the blockchain in solving real-world issues.
