Popular crypto platform ICON has been on a tear recently, with the project not only delivering on its roadmap promises (in a timely fashion) but also releasing new, exciting dApps quite frequently. In this regard, ICON has recently teamed up with the government of South Korea so as to develop three new dApps which will be used by the residents of Seoul (for a host of different social and political matters).
The three apps include:
ICON Blockchain Identification Card ICON Blockchain Vote ICON Blockchain S-Coin Payments. How Will These Offerings Affect the Citizens of Seoul? As is clear from the names of the products, the primary goals of ICON’s latest blockchain offerings are to create a more reliable, democratic, and prosperous society. In this regard, the Blockchain Citizen ID Card will serve as an automated proof that the citizens of Seoul can employ for making purchases, signing up for various banking services etc.
In order to procure this ID Card, all users have to do is fill out a form that requires their basic details. The entire process is quite efficient and can be completed within a matter of 5-10 minutes.
Similarly, the ‘Blockchain Vote’ module allows anyone with the aforementioned ID card to access the native ICON voting system. To further elaborate on this point, we can see that the voting system is not independent but has been designed as a part of ICONLOOP’s joint venture with the Korea National Information Society Agency and the Korea National Election Commission.
Lastly, we have the ICON Blockchain S-Coin Payment system. As the name suggests, this offering has been devised in order to allow users to perform cash-free transactions in a highly streamlined, transparent manner. To make a purchase using this system, all one has to do is simply scan the QR code of the desired product (which then automatically triggers a specially designed payment protocol).
ICONs Recent Market HistoryEarlier this year, ICON got off the Ethereum network to move to its very own mainnet framework. Ever since then, the firm has been partnering up/ collaborating with a host of different financial entities (both large and small) all across the globe. For example, recently the company teamed up with TRIVE to establish an educational ecosystem with a focus on blockchain technology.
If that wasn't enough, ICONs executive brass has also been in talks with Park Won-soon, the Mayor of Seoul, so as to chalk out a five-year plan that will see the firm procure $108 million in an effort to develop Seoul into a blockchain-powered smart city.
