HIVE Blockchain, a cryptocurrency mining company, has announced the signing of a major deal that will allow it to buy high-performance mining ASIC mining chips integrated into the mining equipment built for the HIVE blockchain.
HIVE is making this deal possible through a partnership with Intel Corporation. Intel is one of the reputable players in the mining sector, having supported the mining processes of a wide range of mining firms in the crypto space.
HIVE partners with IntelThe executive chairman of HIVE, Frank Holmes, noted that he was thrilled to see the team behind HIVE working towards expanding the firm’s mining operations in the US. One of the ways it is achieving expansion is by signing a deal with Intel, the largest semiconductor manufacturer globally.
Besides Intel, HIVE will also be working with ODM (original design manufacturer). ODM will integrate the blockchain accelerators provided by Intel into a Bitcoin mining system. The engineering team at HIVE will use its expertise in hardware and software development for these system integrations.
These mining systems will be delivered within one year from the second half of 2022. HIVE notes that if these miners are installed, there would be an up to 95% increase in the aggregate Bitcoin mining hashrate from 1.9 Exahash per second.
The President and the COO of HIVE, Aydin Kilic, commented on this, saying,
After months of careful planning, we are very excited to take this step forward with a global technology leader like Intel. HIVE is committed to implementing these next-generation blockchain accelerators in its green energy infrastructure.
HIVE signs another deal with Compute NorthHIVE has also announced it will enter into a non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) with Compute North. The latter is an industry leader in energy-efficient and large-scale computing infrastructure. The firm is increasing its operations in the US significantly.
“Our team is proud to be working to accelerate the energy transition and evolve the data centre market to create an efficient platform for computing needs”, said Kyle Wenzel, the CCO of Compute North.
