Anonymous, the infamous international hacker network, has issued Russian soldiers $52,000 worth of BTCs to surrender their armored tanks and give up the battle against Ukraine. The self-acclaimed anti-oppression activist group which first shot to the limelight in 2008 on the hill of the Occupy Wall Street protests, had, on Friday, called on its global network of hackers through its Twitter handle, to join in the fight against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Donning its signature Guy Fawkes mask in a viral video, an alleged spokesperson for the agency stated that it is working towards ensuring  “[Putin’s] secrets may no longer be safe and there is a chance that key components of [the Kremlin] government agencies infrastructure could be hijacked.” So far, it had claimed close to 300 successful cyberattacks targeting Russian-owned websites, including top-tier banks like Sberbank, energy companies like Gazprom, and government agencies like RTV. This time, it is targeting Putin’s foot soldiers and asking them to shun the war for approximately 1.2 BTC.

How To Qualify for Anonymous’s 1.2 BTCs

According to its official instructions for surrender, every Russian soldier willing to give up their arms and armored tanks must wave a white flag and use the password “millions’, The Ukrainian Defence ministry is reported to have also supported Anonymous’ tactics adding that it would offer asylum protection to every repentant Russian soldier and express visa entry for any foreigner willing to come to Ukraine to help in the fight against Russia.

By their actions, the decentralized group will join a growing list of civil organizations and corporate bodies that have voiced their concerns against Russia’s attack. Google, Apple, and even Elon Musk’s Starlink have also joined forces in helping Ukrainians and deterring Russians. Several hours after Kyiv had suffered a massive internet blackout because of Russian attacks, Elon Musk offered its Starlink Satellite internet connection to restore connectivity.

BTC Bounces As Crowdfunding Rises

Bitcoin has seen an impressive rally beyond its tedious $40K resistance since the start of the conflict. Part of its value uptick was attributed to the growing demand among Ukrainians and Russians now hit by financial stringencies. Also, it has actively been involved in the torrent of crypto donations pouring in to save Ukrainians.

UkraineDAO, a decentralized crowdfunding platform, has recently reached a milestone of $7 million added to the $50 million worth of cryptocurrencies reportedly amassed from global crowdfunding efforts. The most donated assets are Polkadot, Bitcoin, Ether, Dogecoin, and USD Tether.
