Ethereum layer 2 scaling solution Arbitrum is now ready for users.
At the end of May, Arbitrum had launched its mainnet beta for developers and since then, over 400 projects have been given mainnet access with dozens having successfully completed deployments.
Later this month, it will also be opened for users, announced Offchain Labs, which is building Arbitrum.
As part of its fair launch strategy, those projects that have completed their deployment will be able to open them to their users. Ahead of Arbitrum One launch, it will be rolled out for users to have a way to access every app and service provider on Arbitrum.
Recently, Reddit announced that it is scaling Community Points on Ethereum using Arbitrum with projects like Cream Finance, Gnosis Safe, Uniswap, Alchemy, Consensys’ Infura, FutureSwap, DXdao, dForce, Graph Protocol, and many others that are deploying its products and services on Arbitrum. The team said,
“We’ve been hard at work over the last few months coordinating deployments with hundreds of projects and bridging many of the most popular stablecoins and tokens onto Arbitrum.”
For now, initial limits will be placed on the volume of activity which will be raised gradually over time.
One of the most popular layer 2 solutions that aim to reduce the fees on Ethereum also said that when these volume limits are approached, the system may congest and fees may rise until traffic reduces. They said,
“We’re still finalizing the parameters and thinking through the optimal tradeoffs and will have more to say on this shortly.”
And until the system is fully decentralized, Arbitrum will continue to have upgradeability controls to ensure performance improvements and respond quickly to security incidents.
