The Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID), under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China, has released a report ranking 37 of the most popular Blockchain Technologies currently in the market.
The CCID regularly updates its Global Public Chain Technology Evaluation Index with this being the second release this year and the 17th of its nature: There was an earlier February report. CCID has, however, noted that nothing has changed much as the projects have reduced their momentum amidst the COVID-19 uncertainty.
“From February to March 2020, due to the impact of the global new crown epidemic, the update of selected public chain projects has slowed down, and the overall index has not changed much”
EOS, TRON, and Ethereum have come out top of the list respectively with Bitcoin slipping down a further 3 positions to 14th place. Bitcoin Cash moved up 3 places to 31st position following its recent halving. The CCID assess Blockchains ecosystems by three categories: basic technology, its applicability, and creativity or innovation.
Source: CCID Ranking TechnologyEOS emerged top of the list when it came to the technical ability of their Blockchain scoring an impressive 105.6 points with TRON in second with 93.2 followed closely in third by Ethereum with 78.0. The BTC, on the other hand, fared poorly in the category on recording 43.0.
ApplicabilityNotably, Ethereum topped the charts in the Blockchain applicability subclass garnering 29.5 while TRON and EOS came in second and third respectively accumulating 28.2 and 21.4. BTC only managed a meager 19.5 in the subclass.
CreativityThe BTC beat its peers significantly in the innovation sector with a score of 42.4. EOS and Ethereum scored 29.1and 29.0 respectively. Tron only managed 17.1 in this subclass.
The evaluation of the projects is carried out by the CCID in collaboration with various partners such as CCID think tank and China Software Evaluation Center. The latter has recently echoed their sentiments that the assessments will particularly allow the CCID to bolster their consultancy services which they extend to the government agencies, research institutes, business enterprises and technology devs.
