China has released its Cryptocurrency Rating Index for August 2018, which shows the ranking for the world’s top cryptocurrencies. The ranking by China’s Center of Information Industry Development (CCID) is based on technology, application, and total inventiveness. This makes China’s crypto ranking entirely different to the usual method of classifying rankings by market capitalization.

As far as the CCID is concerned, EOS is the top cryptocurrency in the world. Those who have been following the monthly Cryptocurrency Rating Index would not find this too surprising as EOS has been the top crypto for three consecutive months now, according to a report by Unhashed.

In the latest index, EOS scored 158.7 points, which is a significant improvement from its score of 145.6 in the previous month’s ranking. However, EOS’ current rating is still below its all-time high of 161.5, which it got during its launch month.

Meanwhile, Ethereum retained the second spot, which got a score of 139, a three-point improvement over its July 2018 score of 136.

With a score of 111.3, Komodo forced its way into the third spot in CCID’s latest crypto rankings and replaced Nebulas, which now occupies the fourth spot. The move was a big leap for Komodo because it was ranked ninth in the previous month’s index.

Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization, also showed improvement in this month’s Cryptocurrency Rating Index. It is now ranked 10th, a significant increase from last month’s rank of 16th.
