Coinbase Powering A Crypto Economy For Refugees?

Crypto provides for an easy and accessible method for money transfer. One platform, GiveCrypto.org, facilitates a system where there is a quick turn around time for transfers. The system works to mitigate fees and delays so that those in need can receive what they need in a timely manner. Right now, the platform’s latest project enables funds to reach Syrian refugees.

Coinbase has made a generous donation of $10,000 to the platform’s project, which will in turn, reach Yazidi families in Kurdistan and 5 Syrian families. The platform, and another called Sempo, are working to establish relationships with local vendors so that it is possible to exchange cash or goods for crypto. Vendors who are paid through the program recipient’s wallet can request the currency in fiat.

The support from Coinbase enables the platform to provide more much-needed help to refugee families around the world.
