The cryptocurrency community and its proponents have been promoting crypto to gain mainstream adoption across the world. However, institutional investors have always been a tough nut to crack when it comes to cryptos. According to research by Fidelity Investments, many of these investors are “overwhelmingly favorable about the appealing characteristics of digital assets.”
The majority of the investors cited certain characteristics to be interesting about digital assets. The report elaborated the point, stating,
“nearly half of respondents (47%) appreciate that digital assets are an innovative technology play 46% find digital assets’ low correlation to other assets among the most appealing characteristic Financial advisers (74%) and family offices (80%) view the characteristics of digital assets most favorably”While 22% of the sampled investors were aware of digital assets and most of them were involved in investments in crypto over the past three years, four in ten people showed interest in future investments in digital assets over the next five years. Even though most investors think of investing in crypto as just an investment opportunity, the opinions on how to hold these assets differ from investor to investor.
“Across all institutional segments, when considering a custodian for digital assets, 76% of institutions surveyed placed security and safety as their most important considerations.”
The report indicated a rise in institutional investors’ interest and highlighted the fact that there is more awareness about the development in the space. According to the report, institutions are forming their own investment theses. The report concludes by stating,
“We expect more investors will acknowledge the impact this new set of assets will have as we continue to develop this new era of wealth transfer and management.”
