Austin Petersen the Crypto Candidate Continues the Electoral Process Defending the Ecosystem
Missouri’s GOP primary electoral process is arriving to an end, and Austin Peterson, the ‘crypto’ candidate, keeps defending the famous virtual currency. Back in 2016 he ran for president as a Libertarian candidate, representing the crypto community – something similar to what John McAfee is doing now.
Mr. Peterson is now finishing the primary race against Josh Hawley. The main support that Petersen has comes from young people. And indeed, this has helped him reach tens of thousands of individuals in Missouri.
As reported by the news outlet 71 Republic, peterson explained he was going to do everything to stop crypto regulation. During the last months, an increased interest from regulatory agencies in regulating the market has caused uncertainties in the space. The Senate candidate decided to defend virtual currencies after he received an attack from Representative Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri. But of course, there is a relation between Mr. Peterson, the free market, no government intervention and virtual currencies.
He wants citizens to be able to freely transact funds, far from government influence and not tied to the current financial system, full of inefficiencies. Because of this, he supports financial innovation and new technologies such as Bitcoin and other virtual currencies.
This is not the first time that Peterson is in the news for being a cryptocurrency supporter. In the past, he accepted donations through Bitpay for his campaign. Back in February, he received an important Bitcoin donation of 0.284 BTC which was the largest Bitcoin contribution ever made to a US political campaign. At that time, the donation was valued at $4,500 dollars.
Later in May, Mr. Peterson received over $250,000 dollars worth of Bitcoin. But he had to return this money because the Federal Election Committee (FEC) restricts contributions. The amount of dollars that a person can donate is $5,400.
Moreover, Peterson is a strong supporter of the 1st and 2nd Amendments of the Constitution. He supports gun possession and has been banned from Facebook because of giving away guns to his followers.
Peterson Explained About Bitcoin And Virtual Currencies:“Bitcoin’s disruptive influence is just what our financial system needs at this time. For too long, the federal government has had exclusive control over currency, stymying competition and growth by falsely limiting consumer choice – a fact we would all be aware of were the Federal Reserve subject to the same kind of audits privately-held companies are.”
After it he said that cryptos are a representation of American liberty and that he was going to accept campaign donations in BTC.
As an outsider, his ideas for an economic revolution using virtual currencies are a great move to attract young generations. It is just a matter of time before we can see him in the career to reach the Senate and speak for all crypto-supporters.
