The cryptocurrency market remained volatile on Tuesday, with most major tokens trading sluggishly as investors awaited the Federal Reserve’s upcoming policy meeting.

Bitcoin (BTC) held steady around the $83,000 mark, while XRP and Solana saw steeper declines.

The global cryptocurrency market cap edged down 0.26% to $2.71 trillion over the past day, while market activity picked up with a 7.83% increase in total trading volume, reaching $72.94 billion.

Investor sentiment remained in the “fear” zone, as indicated by the Crypto Fear and Greed Index.

Bitcoin traded at $83,044.68, down around 0.23% intraday.

The coin’s 24-hour trading range was between $82,492.15 and $84,725.33.

Bitcoin continues to trade within a narrow range of $84,000 to $82,000, with bulls finding it difficult to push the price higher.

Market sentiment remains cautious, and optimism for a swift move past the $90,000 mark is waning.

Bitcoin’s dominance in the market slightly rose to 60.71%, up 0.02% on the day.

Trading volume for the coin was up 1.33% at $24 billion.

Ethereum (ETH) price bucked the general trend and was in the green on Tuesday.

ETH price was up around 0.55% to trade at $1,906.32.

The intraday low and high were $1,880.48 and $1,951, respectively.

This comes as Standard Chartered revised its price forecast for Ethereum, predicting that the cryptocurrency may not reach $10,000 in 2025 due to the growing influence of Layer-2 solutions on its value.

In a market note, analyst Geoffrey Kendrick outlined the bank’s updated expectations, citing Ethereum’s recent decline to multi-month lows.

The bank now anticipates Ethereum to rise to $4,000 in 2025, significantly lower than its previous $10,000 target.

XRP fell over 1.8%, trading at $2.29 after hitting an intraday low of $2.28 and a high of $2.38.

Solana (SOL) registered a close to 3% drop to $124.54 trading between $123.77 and $130 in the past 24 hours.

It was the biggest loser among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

Trading volume was up over 7% at $2.79 billion.

PancakeSwap (CAKE) led the gainers with a strong 21.59% surge in the last 24 hours, pushing its price to $2.59.

Pepe (PEPE) followed with a 5.67% increase, now trading at $0.057182.

TRON (TRX) climbed 5.01% to reach $0.2230, while OKB (OKB) rose by 4.62%, settling at $51.69.

Cosmos (ATOM) also gained 3.98%, trading at $4.75.

Pi (PI) led the losers with a sharp 16.20% drop in the last 24 hours, bringing its price down to $1.17.

Berachain (BERA) followed with a 9.56% decline, now trading at $6.26. Sonic (S) saw a 5.23% decrease, settling at $0.4766, while Shiba Inu (SHIB) fell by 4.10% to $0.00001269.

Story IP also declined by 3.78%, currently priced at $5.32.

Cardano (ADA) has decreased by 0.45% in the last 24 hours, currently trading at $0.7092.

Chainlink (LINK) has increased by 2.79% over the past day, reaching a price of $14.05.

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has decreased by 0.59% in the last 24 hours, currently valued at $332.25.

Dai (DAI) has increased by 0.01% over the past day, trading at $1.00.

Celestia (TIA) has decreased by 0.41% in the last 24 hours, reaching a price of $3.40.
