Crypto prices traded higher on Friday for most assets as Bitcoin (BTC) targeted the $100,000 milestone again following last week’s failed attempt.
Algorand, Peanut the Squirrel and XRP are among top performers on the day.
Market data shows the global cryptocurrency market cap rose to $3.5 trillion despite slight losses for Mantra, Helium, Aave and Pyth Network among other recent outperformers.
Crypto news wrapIn the crypto news, Russian president Vladmir Putin signed a law recognizing Bitcoin and digital currencies as property.
Other top crypto news this week include Brazil’s Congress getting a new bill eyeing a national Bitcoin reserve, MicroStrategy’s $5.4 billion Bitcoin purchase and Boyaa Interactive’s dumping of ETH for BTC to overtake Metaplanet as Asia’s largest corporate BTC holder.
WisdomTree filed for an XRP trust in Delaware to add to XRP ETF sentiment, while Tether announced plans to end EURT stablecoin support amid MiCA regulations.
There was also news related to Tornado Cash, with judges ruling that the Treasury’s sanctions against the platform’s smart contracts was unlawful
ALGO, XRP and PNUT lead daily gainersBTC price rose to above $98,693 before retreating.
However, the market remained largely bullish as analysts pointed to a potential flip of the psychological level any time before end of the year
As the global crypto market surged on Bitcoin’s uptick, several altcoins showed remarkable individual performances.
Top of the leaderboard among the top 100 coins by market cap on November 29 was Algorand with over 32% and 65% in 24-hour and past week gains respectively. ALGO traded at highs of $0.41 on the day.
Solana-based meme coin Peanut the Squirrel (PNUT) also soared, with the token up more than 20% as it recovered from recent losses to lows of $1.02.
PNUT traded around $1.29 at the time of writing.
However, it reached intraday highs of $1.35.
XRP price rose to levels last seen in April 2021, hitting highs near $1.77 to see buyers target the key $2 level.
The Ripple token has surged massively since Trump’s election earlier in November.
However, it gained fresh momentum after SEC Chair Gary Gensler announced his departure from the agency on January 20, 2025.
The XRP token was up 14% and 17% in the past 24 hours and week respectively.
Notably, XRP has spiked more than 220% in the past 30 days.
Other top crypto gainersApart from ALGO, PNUT and XRP, other cryptocurrencies to see significant gains in the past 24 hours include Theta Network (THETA), EOS (EOS), Hedera (HBAR) and MultiversX (EGLD).
EOS price rose to $0.91 as bulls targeted a return to April 2024 highs above $1.
